41 weeks to go

Sigh.

Weighed in at 149 pounds this morning. I have a big zit on my nose and the cold that I've had since Thanksgiving is STILL not gone.

The good news is that the kids' Christmas should be awesome this year. Scored a majorly good deal on a DS for Allie, then it turned out to be pink on top of it, which is what she really wanted.

I know the weight loss thing isn't going to kick in again until after the holidays. I just need to try to keep it from getting worse before the new year. David said he's kicking in seriously after new year's, too, which will help.

Holiday Break

I'm back among the living after an unexpectedly-long Thanksgiving Break. I woke up Thanksgiving day feeling awful--I ended up sleeping a lot of the day away (thank goodness David does all the cooking at our house anyway).

Friday I felt a little better and went to the Black Friday sales (at a normal time of day, not at 5 a.m.) Snagged one thing for Kyle at half-price and got some ideas for everyone else.

Saturday was a nice chill day until Kyle's eye started gooping shut. Pink eye. We made a mad dash for quick care and got that taken care of. We got enough antibiotics in him that we felt safe taking him to David's parents' house on Sunday--we made sure he washed hands and kept the other kids from touching his face.

Monday morning Allie wakes up at 5 a.m. with her eyes gooped shut. Pink eye. So now we're doing eyedrops 4 times a day for BOTH kids. Lovely. Plus I woke up in the middle of the night coughing again and then Monday night I started getting the feeling that I had another ear infection. So Tuesday it was off to Express Care for me and a round of antibiotics.

Yesterday I found a sweet deal on a DS for Allie, which was totally out of her budget otherwise. So she's going to get the one thing she REALLY wants most for Christmas, which makes me very happy.

So now it's Thursday and I'm still not totally better. I'm really tired of the ear being stuffed up. I have to go to a Daisy Scout meeting tonight and the idea of 11 little girls running around shrieking with my ear all stuffed up makes me want to go ahead and poke out my ear drum, honestly.

Saturday we're going Christmas shopping with my parents, brother and sister-in-law and my nephews. It's a tradition we started back when I was pregnant with Allie, so it's a fun thing to do. It's getting harder to sneak toys into the cart as the kids get older, my Mom's cart always ends up covered in coats to try to sneak things out.

And the best news of all from Thanksgiving (well, not the best, but it made me happy) is that I gained NO weight over the holiday. And I ate, believe me. Once this stupid cold finally lets go, it's back to it hard core. Girl Scout cookie time is coming very soon! Yikes.
